Rotates each letter 180° and reverses reading order — like turning the text upside down.

Upside Down Only (order unchanged)

Hǝllo Moɹlp

Reversed Only (letters upright)

dlroW olleH

Full Flip — simulates physically turning your text upside down: letters rotate AND reading order reverses.

Upside Down Only — letters rotate but stay in the same left-to-right order.

Reversed Only — reading order flips (like a mirror) but letters stay upright.

Free Flip Text Generator — Turn Any Text Upside Down

This Flip Text Generator converts your text into upside-down Unicode characters — ¡ǝʞᴉl sᴉɥ┴ — that you can copy and paste anywhere. It's real text, not an image, so it works in places you normally can't change the font: Instagram bios, TikTok captions, Discord messages, and Twitter/X display names.

Choose Full Flip for the classic "turned upside down" look, or use Upside Down Only and Reversed Only for variations. Want decorative fonts instead? Try the Fancy Text Generator. Need invisible characters for a blank username? Try the Invisible Text Generator.

How Upside-Down Text Actually Works

Unicode doesn't have a dedicated "upside-down alphabet," so this tool maps each letter to the closest visually matching character from other Unicode blocks — mostly the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), which happens to contain many rotated letterforms used for phonetic transcription. For example, the IPA symbol for a certain vowel sound (ǝ) looks just like a rotated "e" — a happy visual coincidence this tool takes advantage of.

A handful of letters — H, I, N, O, S, X, Z — already look identical when rotated 180°, since they're symmetrical. Punctuation like parentheses and brackets swap direction under rotation too: ( becomes ), exactly as it would if you physically turned a page upside down.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does upside-down text work on Instagram and TikTok?

Yes. Since the output is standard Unicode text (not an image), it displays correctly in Instagram bios, TikTok captions, Discord, Facebook, Twitter/X, and virtually anywhere text is accepted.

What is the difference between the three modes?

Full Flip rotates letters AND reverses order (simulating physically turning the text upside down). Upside Down Only rotates letters but keeps the original order. Reversed Only keeps letters upright but reverses the reading order — like "Hello" becoming "olleH".

Why don't all letters have a perfect upside-down match?

Unicode has no dedicated upside-down alphabet block, so this tool borrows visually similar characters from other blocks like the International Phonetic Alphabet. A few letters use the closest available visual substitute rather than a mathematically perfect rotation.

Is this safe to use — will it break anything?

No. It's completely standard Unicode text, the same technology used by emoji, accented letters, and international scripts. It carries no more risk than typing in any other language or symbol set.

Can I flip a friend's name as a joke?

Absolutely — that's one of the most popular uses. Type any name or phrase, copy the Full Flip result, and send it to them.
