Word Unscrambler — Every Valid Word From Your Letters

Type in your scrambled letters — from a Scrabble rack, a Words With Friends hand, or just a jumble you're trying to solve — and this tool instantly finds every valid word that can be made from them, not just words that use all of your letters. Use a "?" for a blank tile, filter by exact word length, narrow results with starts-with/contains/ ends-with filters, and see each word's point value in both Scrabble and Words With Friends scoring. Everything runs instantly in plain JavaScript against a static ~157,000-word list, no sign-up required.

Unscrambling vs. Anagram Solving

These sound similar but solve different problems. An anagram solver rearranges a set of letters into a word that uses every single one — the input length and output length always match. A word unscrambler is more flexible: given a handful of letters, it finds every valid word that can be built from any subset of them, from 2-letter words all the way up to using them all. That's exactly what you need at the Scrabble or Words With Friends board, where you're rarely trying to play every tile in your rack at once.

🅰️ Blank tiles supported

Type "?" anywhere in your letters to represent a blank tile — it can stand in for any letter needed to complete a word.

🏆 Built-in scoring

Every match shows its point value in both Scrabble and Words With Friends scoring, correctly zeroing out any letter covered by a blank.

Tips for Finding Better Words

🎯

Filter by length to fit your board

If you only have room for a 5-letter word on the board, use the length filter to cut straight to exactly those matches instead of scrolling through everything.

🧩

Use "Contains" to fit around existing tiles

Already have a letter on the board you need to build through? Use the Contains filter to only show words that include it.

💰

Sort by score to find the highest-value play

The highest-scoring valid word isn't always the longest one — sorting by score surfaces plays with high-value letters like Q, X, Z, and J.

🃏

Don't forget your blank tiles

Adding a "?" to your letters often unlocks words you'd otherwise miss — just remember a blank scores zero points for whichever letter it represents.

📏

Bigger word lists find more bingos

This tool searches words up to 9 letters, covering the classic 7-letter "bingo" bonus play and the occasional 8–9 letter extension using a board letter.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from an anagram solver?

An anagram solver only returns words that use every letter you entered. This word unscrambler finds every valid word using any subset of your letters — a 7-letter rack can turn up dozens of 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-letter words along with any full-length matches.

How do blank tiles work?

Type a "?" anywhere in your letters to represent a blank tile. It can substitute for any single letter needed to complete a word, and that letter correctly scores zero points in the Scrabble and Words With Friends scoring shown next to each result.

What's the difference between Scrabble and Words With Friends scoring?

The two games assign different point values to several letters (for example, Words With Friends values D, G, H, L, and U differently than Scrabble). Toggle the Scoring option to see point values for whichever game you're playing.

What's the longest word this can find?

The word list covers 2 to 9 letters, which includes the classic 7-letter Scrabble "bingo" bonus play plus common 8- and 9-letter extensions.

Is this affiliated with Scrabble or Words With Friends?

No — Scrabble and Words With Friends are trademarks of their respective owners. This is an independent word-finding tool built to help with word games generally and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by either brand.
